I'm sorry for the extreme amount of lurking I'm doing, I'm just having a hard time coming up with anything TRULY funny, and so far only my 4chan article I'm drawing up seems to pass for funny.

Regarding lurking, it's completely fine. In actual fact it's a good thing, as it means you know what we're aiming for here (this issue has recently come up, regarding a user who has up to now posted some good stuff that was nevertheless lacking somewhat in the humour department). If leaving it longer means your articles will be funnier, then definitely wait until you think you're ready.
