The median expected salary for a typical Programmer I in the United States is $51,046.http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/layouthtmls/swzl_compresult_national_IT10000010.html
assuming an average person works from age 18-55, they work 37 years. 51,046 divided by 37 equals 1379 dollars per year. At minimum wage, or 6 dollars an hour, they will need to work 229 hours a year to make as much as a programmer. A full time job is 1920 hours a year, which is roughly 8 times that much.
- That made no sense. So of course, I love it. As a programmer myself, I find it comforting to know that there are geniuses out there like this fellow to carry on our stupid legacy. -- Supervisor 194 08:28, 29 Aug 2006 (PDT)
