The SA Morality Police are stupid.
Origin
The forums of Something Awful have long been notorious for their insensitive humor, such as the legendary 9/11 tribute. Sometime during the year 2004, the site began to experience an influx of new users. These people, who hailed from every corner of the Internet, were widely reviled by the neckbearded veterans of General Bullshit (Something Awful's primary forum). It is from the ranks of the 04's that the SA Morality Squad was cut.
The Morality Squad is comprised of Christians, furries, and faggots. Many are a combination of the three.
Proliferation
There is no documented beginning to the reign of the Morality Squad, but many speculate that it was during the thread discussing the 2004 tsunami in the Indian ocean. As pictures of the disaster began to be published, several industrious goons took it upon themselves to Photoshop them for comedic value, including an especially amusing Sierra Mist advertisement parody. Veterans applauded, but the new contingency of Morality Squadmen immediately questioned the sexual preferences and mental health of the posters. The reaction was delivered with such vitriol that the offending pictures were removed within minutes.
Methods of Attack
When a thread is posted containing a humorous anecdote that is controversial in the least, the first page is predominantly filled with people complimenting the author. The Morality Squad usually descends in masse by the second or third page.
Example: User A has posted a story wherein two military friends of his play a mean-spirited prank on a bunker slut. One man has sex with the woman, while the other hides in a nearby closet. During the course of the act, the other man moves silently from the closet and joins his friend who is plowing away. The first man pulls out of the slut, and the second takes his place, presumably without her noticing. The first man then sneaks outside and waves at the slut from the window, leading her to realize that she is the victim of an elaborate ruse. There is much rejoicing.
Users B and C chime in with comments praising the story's lewd nature with copious LOLs.
The Morality Squad now makes its move.
MS 1 appears, and points out that this childish prank is, in fact, rape. He goes on to say that rape isn't funny (it can be).
User B retaliates by claiming that despite the legal implications, the story is still hilarious. User C sarcastically welcomes MS 1 to the Awful Forums.
MS 1 is joined by a contingency of about five additional supporters. All of which do nothing but bitch and moan about rape jokes over the course of ten pages (about 1,500 posts). User A is bought a large, red custom title that reads "I THINK RAPE IS FUCKING HILARIOUS AND I AM A FAG." The Morality Squad then proceeds to vote the thread down to a "Crap" rating. After bitching incessantly to the administrators, the thread is usually gassed.
