Revolution is stupid.

The Revolution is the event after which you will be the first up against the wall.

A revolution is based on spreading the meme that things suck so much the all the leaders and or intellectuals should be killed. Since this is spread by people who are almost leaders and 2nd class intellectuals, they will be the ones who step into power. When they do, one of two things happen, either they are even worse despots than the ones before them (so they can restore order), or the unwashed masses get tired of waiting for things to improve after a week or so, and now kill those leaders and intellectuals. After all, they were recently convinced that it was okay to do so.
