Microsoft is stupid.
Microsoft is a software company that makes crappy software. This, of course, is opposed to all the other software companies out there making really excellent, usable, well-tested and well-written software. All the talk about the quality of their output aside, everyone in the picture at right is now extremely, extremely wealthy.
Had you the presence of mind to drop $100 in Microsoft stock in 1978, you would be so rich right now that you could buy and sell entire countries.
Microsoft was started by a bunch of hippie commie nerds led by convicted speeder Bill Gates sometime before 1975. Their main modus operandi has always seemed to be in stealing ideas from other people, then using their considerable market share to crush all competition, in true Berkeley fashion. They stole DOS from some poor sucker and then turned around and sold it to IBM, they stole Windows from Apple's Macintosh (which had in turn stolen it from Xerox), they stole the web browser from NCSA Mosaic, and they stole the shirt right off your mother's back.
