Example Question: Can I fag up EOS?
- Example Answer: No.
Sharpie Stars
- SharpieStars available for Sysops! As I was eating lunch today, the phrase I added about Bill O'Reilly just kept running through my head, and it cracks me the hell up, don't ask me why. So I thought that this would be a good way to inspire our writers to strive to be their best, and reward them for their efforts. Is there a particular phrase that you find incredibly clever/funny? Give it and it's user a SharpieStar! Non-sysops: feel free to nominate turns of phrase here in this thread. Supervisor 194 14:41, 28 Jun 2006 (PDT)
User:Talk Pages Need Some Direction For the Future
- This page (the Community Portal) is an example of how discussions on the User:Talk pages need to go. I was just clueing in our new sysop about how valuable reading them could be in helping him to understand how to be a good sysop... until I realized we have a habit of holding single conversations on two separate User:Talk pages. Let's try to do this from now on on topics that are questions or discussion:
A bold header summarizing what you're saying
- Say something to user. <sig>
- User responds thusly <sig>
It will make reading the discussion pages much more readable. Of course, feel free to FYAD them up with AND YOUR A BIG FAG TO LOL templates and other crap, this just applies to actual questions and/or items for discussion between users. Supervisor 194 20:19, 5 Jun 2006 (PDT)
Post-SA Suggestions
- We just seem to be getting users who don't do anything or who post LOL DICKS or this dreadful bullshit. The past month I've seen 12 new articles that were worth a shit, only half of which were made by new users. I'm keeping up the SA advertising for now, but does anyone know any other appropriate places for putting banner ads that has a similar pricing structure to SA? ("LOL Fark" makes the baby jesus cry). OK, tired of the low/no content postings/image uploads.
- I'm writing something into the style manual about it being bannable. Supervisor 194 12:35, 4 May 2006 (PDT)
The OFW's want a fight. Shall we give it to them?
- I wanted to address this before it becomes a problem. Other Funny Wikis. When I originally put this wiki up, it was just a joke. But a bunch of friends jumped in and we had so much fun that we decided to expose it to Something Awful in order to tap the incredible pool of talented writers that are there. We have been (and will continue to be) successful at that. Now that we're closing in on 300 articles, all of a sudden we're on the radar and being dissed by an OFW and I want to make something clear. We didn't make this wiki in order to start drama. As a matter of fact, drama is one of the things in life that we would most like to avoid. Therefore, linking to, mentioning, creating articles about or otherwise throwing OFW's in our face in any way is bannable. EOS Users that write for an OFW (you know who you are) need to be very careful about how they behave here. We don't care that anyone writes for an OFW, and we don't care what you say - but just keep it off of here. Stay focused and funny. Anything else will be considered an unwelcome distraction. Is there anyway to contact Mods privately? For example, I changed the article "Myspace" from a redirect, how would I ask if it was kosher to do so first? Or should is it even ask-worthy?
- There is no way to contact the mods privately, but if you place a question like this in any user's User:Talk page (by clicking on the user and then clicking on the discussion tab), a notice appears the next time that user logs in. I'll demonstrate by leaving you a message. As for the Myspace redirect, your article is good, and it it has a picture, so that's nothing to be worried about. If for some reason the mods wanted it to be a redirect, they would roll it back, give a reason and you'd be none the worse for wear. Even if a rollback happens, you'll never be shit on for making good contributions. PS: You can sign your entries thusly by using four tildes (~) in a row: Supervisor 194 18:28, 22 Dec 2005 (PST)
Can I call articles stupid?
- I think you just did. In general, however, wouldn't it be more constructive to just create the Quran article and redirect to it from Koran? It really shouldn't even be "The Koran," just Koran, so you had the opportunity to clean up two things at once. FYI: I don't think anybody really much cares about being quite as correct as your comment implied we ought to be, but just so you know, you were not quite correct about Koran. Koran is an English word that is a representation of the Arabic Qur'an. Notice that Wikipedia redirects.
