Banhammers are stupid.

Banhammer is a term referred to by many message boards and chat rooms, the usage thereof generally meaning punishment in the form of banishment. You can be blocked from using a message board, you can be kicked and banned from a chat room. One way or another, it means excluding you from everyone else's company. It is reserved for those users who find that the only way they can interact with the anonymous online world is to be a jerk or be stupid or simply destructive.

EOS bans users mainly for vandalism. We haven't had to worry about much of anything else because we are a small, humble encyclopedia. Users who get banned end up in the Idiot Tree.
