Art School is stupid.

Art School was invented sometime before 1975 as a nice place for middle-class people to hang out and drink some beer - as such, it is very similar to such institutions as Applebee's, Chili's, and TGIFriday's. The most visible difference is that art school costs tens of thousands of dollars to attend: much more than Applebee's. It is yet to be seen if there are any real benefits that come from attending art school rather than Applebee's, but it seems that there must be - why else would people go into such massive debt, year after year after year, right?

What Gets Made at Art School?

Art school is a place where art students make art. Apparently, in the year 2007, art must somehow incorporate: flying birds, deer heads, wallpaper, perfectly symmetrical objects, Victorian-style ornaments, piles of junk, dripping paint, cute pictures of the art student's friends, or some combination thereof. For examples, consult your local art school.

Political Art

Though it is extremely rare, there have been times when art students have gotten "ambitious" and made art that is political in nature. This work revolves around one of these theses:

-Poverty is bad.
-War is bad.
-The destruction of the environment is bad.

The artwork will not present any insight, critical thought, or relevant research, as that would require intellectual effort, thus defeating the purpose of attending art school in the first place.
